Mister Mann Frisby
ABA Executive Director

The annual ‘Achievers Brunch’ is the brainchild of author and filmmaker Mister Mann Frisby. The South Philly native graduated Overbrook High School before attending Penn State University on a full academic scholarship.

Following Penn State he worked as a news reporter for The Philadelphia Daily News in 1997. It was the first time in the newspaper’s history that an intern was hired to be a full time staff writer right out of college.

After departing the newspaper business he authored two novels, two motivational books for young adults, and two short stories which made the Amazon best-seller’s list in 2019.

Frisby volunteered for seven seasons as head track & field coach for the Oak Lane Youth Association before founding PhatBack Athletics, an all boys track club and mentor program in his hometown of Philadelphia. For four years the organization boasted a 100% high school graduation rate with a 70% college graduation rate.

During his tenure as a youth track coach Frisby coached six national champions, seven state champions and more than three dozen league/city champions. He has raised and facilitated more than $100,000 in grants and scholarships for students over two decades.
